I've been on the down low, lapping up all I can from workshops run by Australian Independent Record Labels Association through my Women in Music Mentorship program, learning and planning with a few big life changes thrown in the mix.
I've had the pleasure of playing private shows for my Mums 60th Birthday and Shmoné and spending my down time song-writing which I have SO loved!!
I was recently asked a bunch of questions and thought I might share some of my answers here so we can get to know each other a little better... AND I would love to know your answers too!
So who is 'Jo Page'?
A regular week/weekend day with no travelling gigs looks like this... Today I woke up AT work. I work 16 hour long overnight shifts beginning at 4:30pm, until 9am the following day. I work at a Crisis Accommodation Shelter as a Youth Case Worker. I offer support to the young people who I am working with and assist them with independent living skills and helping them set up their day and finish my handover notes. I clock off at 9am and head home quickly before heading to my F45 session at 9:30 as its usually the only time slot I can attend (Tuesday & Thursday resistance days are my fave).
When that's done I get home, shower and then jump straight into something music related; Whether that's play my guitar, song-write (I've been trying to finish up a few original songs), sitting through a workshop or connecting with my mentor over zoom, have a sing, or it could look like managing my music business by checking bookings and messages, negotiating, doing up invoices and quotes, creating content which could be recording a new video and/or audio for my YouTube Channel, responding to comments, editing a video or posting on my stories, emailing, putting together setlists and sorting keys, organising/ booking my band mates and PA guys and/or rehearsing. I usually fluff about between these tasks before heading back to work at 4:30pm.
If I have the day off or don't have the capacity to think anymore - I play video games on PC or make sure I spend time in nature getting that Vitamin D, whether that's going for a walk, heading to the beach or laying outside in my backyard while blasting some tunes.
I also love my ragdoll kitties and if you follow me anywhere you will see the kitty spam #sorrynotsorry
If I feel like being a potato I'll scroll a bit on socials for a laugh until I feel guilty enough to go and be productive again, and maybe tend to some neglected house hold chores or try learning something new (I'm prone to new monthly hyper-focuses).
I also try to squeeze a prayer or 2 into my day cause God knows I need the strength.
I try my best to make time for the people I love whenever I can... and also try really hard to squeeze eating a cupcake into my daily routine...
People have told me I'm crazy or am always flat out and they're not wrong! I'm prone to burn-out and have been learning the hard lesson of 'taking care of me first' and setting healthy boundaries
I wouldn't change a thing though, because I have a heart set on fire, a passion burning in my soul, a burden to see change and not enough hours in each day for everything I want to do/ achieve/ learn/ experience in my life.
So bring it x
